Abhyangam
Massage with suitable Ayurveda oil all over the body followed by warm water bath.Abhyangam improves circulation, provide relaxation, tones up muscles, enhance complexion of skin.
Application of warmth and massage with herbs herbleaves, herbal powder as per the advice of physician is effective in joint pain, muscular pain,back pain, neck and shoulder pain and many illness like arthritis, spondilitis. Processed herbs are bundled in fresh cloth. This is made warm in hot medicated oil to provide warmth in affected areas.
Rithmical flow of medicated oil or herbal extract on forehead for prescribed time for relaxation, poor sleep.
Nasyam
Ayurvedic nasal drop oil are instilled in either nostrils after face,neck, shoulder massage and steam inhalation
Pizhichil is one among Kerala special ayurveda treatment. After simple oil massage warm oil is poured all over the body for a specific time. Oil is wiped off for warm water bath on completion of the procefure. Its effective in post stroke rehabilitation, weakness of body and numbness of hands, legs. Improves circulation, nerve function and tones up muscles.
Detoxification procedures under sodhana chikithsa are Vamanam, Virechanam, Kashaya vasthi, Sneha vasthi and Nasya. All these five fold treatments are done under supervision of ayurveda physicians.
Njavara is a special veriety of rice in Kerala having known medicinal properties. This rice is boiled in herbal decoction and bundled in fresh cloth. This bundles are again made warm by dipping the bundle in warm milk and herbal decoction. After abhyanga warmth is given from these bundles. The slury is squeezed and applied during the procedure. After the prescribed time the slury is wiped off and warm oil is applied again before warm water bath.
Njavara kizhi is effective in muscle wasting, post stroke rehabilitation, emaciation of muscles.

Vethukuli is part of Ayurveda care after delivery . Herbal oil massage and warm water boiled with herbs is used in this procedure.
